Circularity as a Strategic Pillar at Costa Verde

At Costa Verde, sustainability and innovation are not merely buzzwords, but principles that guide all our strategic decisions. The transition to the Circular Economy arose from an internal conviction that it is possible to grow responsibly, minimizing environmental impacts and maximizing resource efficiency, rather than simply responding to market demands or external certifications. Although certification under ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards, as well as adherence to the Global Compact, demonstrate our alignment with international standards, circularity is a central pillar of our growth strategy and brand identity. We aim to position ourselves as a benchmark in the global tableware ceramics market, combining innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.

To turn this vision into practice, Costa Verde has implemented several circular initiatives. Regarding the efficient use of materials, we have managed to reintegrate approximately 100% of the raw material scraps generated during the forming process, eliminating waste and optimizing resources. The Endless product is an example of our commitment to eco-design, as it is produced using 100% of the sludge resulting from water treatment (ETARI). At the same time, 98% of industrial process waste is sent for recovery to other companies, avoiding landfill disposal, while the water treated at the ETARI is recycled and reused both in the production process and in cleaning operations.

In the energy field, Costa Verde has adopted solutions that optimize resources and reduce emissions. The installation of a heat recovery system reuses exhaust energy from the kilns, reducing gas and electricity consumption, and the photovoltaic panels with 1 MW of installed capacity ensure around 25% of our annual electricity needs, significantly lowering our carbon footprint. Continuous monitoring of more than 50 electricity meters and 12 natural gas meters enables the identification of ongoing energy efficiency improvement opportunities.

Innovation also plays a key role in our circularity strategy. The CiPoCer project focuses on recycling polymer waste, such as PU and PMMA, reintroducing the resulting products into the production chain and reducing dependence on virgin raw materials. Meanwhile, the LaserMarKer project, through the implementation of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) via laser engraving, ensures traceability and after-sales support, strengthening the circular economy throughout the entire product life cycle.

At Costa Verde, circularity is not just an environmental goal, but a strategy that adds value to the brand, strengthens our competitiveness, and promotes sustainable practices across the entire value chain. Every initiative, from waste reintegration to technological innovation, reflects our commitment to growing responsibly and consolidating our position as a global reference in sustainable tableware ceramics.
