Concrete Results of the Circular Economy at Costa Verde

ClementinAtelier

Costa Verde’s sustainability and Circular Economy strategy, supported by significant investments and research and development, is already translating into concrete and measurable results across several areas, from internal efficiency to external brand recognition.

In terms of cost reduction and operational efficiency, investments in waste management and energy efficiency have had a direct impact on costs. The reintegration of approximately 100% of production scraps and the full use of wastewater treatment sludge (ETARI), as in the Endless model, have significantly reduced the purchase of virgin raw materials and lowered waste disposal costs. From an energy perspective, the heat recovery system reuses exhaust heat from kilns, reducing gas and electricity consumption, while in-house electricity generation through photovoltaic panels with 1MW of installed capacity covers around 25% of annual needs, providing direct savings and reducing dependence on the grid. ISO 50001 certification in energy management ensures continuous monitoring and ongoing efficiency improvements.

The commitment to sustainability has also resulted in strong external recognition and enhanced brand value as a leader in innovation and responsibility. The Endless project received an Honorable Mention at the prestigious National Sustainability Award, while the Minimum project was awarded “The LCIP Award for Eco-Design” in 2015. Since 2003, Costa Verde has maintained ISO 14001 certification in environmental management and, since 2014, has adhered to the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact, aligning the brand with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening its ethical and environmental reputation internationally.

Investments in R&D have also generated innovation and competitive advantage. The development of models such as Endless demonstrates the feasibility of producing ceramics using 100% by-products, positioning Costa Verde at the forefront of the sector. Projects such as Cipocer, dedicated to recycling polyurethane waste, and PorCoating, focused on optimizing the production process and reducing waste, reinforce industrial efficiency and quality. The implementation of the LaserMarKer project prepares the company for the Digital Product Passport (DPP), aligning Costa Verde with upcoming European Green Deal requirements and ensuring long-term competitiveness.

Finally, customer satisfaction is reflected in the growing brand recognition in markets that increasingly value innovative and sustainable companies, translating into rising demand for products aligned with the principle “All Senses Matter.” These results demonstrate that circularity and sustainability are not only environmental goals, but also instruments of competitiveness, innovation, and brand strengthening for Costa Verde.
