The first Michelin Guide gala held in Portugal took place on the evening of last Tuesday, February 27th, at the NAU Salgados Palace & Congress Center in Guia, Albufeira. Despite Portugal not achieving the much-desired third star, four new restaurants were awarded one star, and one received two stars, bringing the total to 8 restaurants with two stars and thirty-one with one star.

However, the big winner of the night was chef Vítor Matos, who not only received another Michelin star at the Antiqvvm restaurant in Porto but also saw 2Monkeys in Lisbon being awarded a star. In a night of celebration, chef Vítor Matos was also recognized with the inclusion of Blind in Porto in the list of recommended restaurants, as well as the unprecedented recognition in our country of the Young Chef Award given to his apprentice, chef Rita Magro.

The list of 37 Bib Gourmands grew and gained eight more references, while the green stars now total five, with two new recognitions.
