Costa Verde, an active member of the UN Global Compact, participated in the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of this global initiative, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.
The United Nations Global Compact is a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General dedicated to sustainability, launched in 2000 by Kofi Annan. Established through a resolution of the UN General Assembly, it is based on Ten Fundamental Principles in the areas of human rights, labor practices, environmental protection, and anti-corruption, promoting their integration into the strategy and operations of companies.
At this event, the UN Global Compact renewed the commitment of participating companies to the Ten Principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program included sessions on current key topics, such as the Pact for the Future, the Global Digital Compact, the impact of European legislation, sustainability in SMEs, climate action, water resilience, ocean protection, and other global challenges, with multiple contributions from national and international experts, debates, pitches, workshops, and knowledge-sharing moments.
Leonor Tavares, Manager of Costa Verde Integrated System, represented the company and had the honor of delivering the Declaration of Commitment (DoC) to the participating organizations, reinforcing the importance of adhering to these principles.
As a member of the UN Global Compact and part of its board, Costa Verde continues to play an active role in promoting sustainable business practices aligned with the global challenges of sustainable development.
