On last Tuesday, April 23rd, the School of Hotel Management and Tourism of Portimão hosted the 3rd regional stage of the 35th edition of Chefe do Ano 2024 (Chef of the Year 2024), which crowned Francisca Dias (Casa do Gadanha, Estremoz) as the winner.
The 6 finalists of the Chefe do Ano 2024 (Chef of the Year 2024) competition have been found. The largest and oldest national cooking competition for professionals in Portugal, has its finalists revealed for the 35th edition. Six names will compete in the national final. It all happens on May 22nd at the Centro Multiusos (Multiusos Center) in Lamego. With the regional stages concluded, the following contestants are finalists (presented in alphabetical order):
- Diogo Novais Pereira – Porinhos, Fafe
- Francisca Dias – Casa do Gadanha, Estremoz
- João Costa – Euskalduna Studio, Porto
- Jorge Bolito – The Yeatman, V.N. Gaia
- Mário Santos – Rossio Gastrobar – Altis Avenida, Lisbon
- Pedro Dias – Culto ao Bacalhau, Porto
Lamego returns, for the second time, to be the host municipality of the Chefe do Ano 2024 (Chef of the Year 2024) final, after last year being the stage of Jeferson Dias’ victory. It is worth mentioning that Lamego is the “home” of the 2022 contest winner, Ana Magalhães. Alongside the final, there will be the “Pensar Cozinha,” a forum where gastronomy-related topics will be discussed, accompanied by conversations and cooking demonstrations with chefs invited by the organization.
