Diogo Novais Pereira is the Chef of the Year 2024. At 33 years old, the head chef of the restaurant Porinhos, in Fafe, wins the 35th edition of the largest and oldest national cooking competition for professionals in Portugal.
Diogo began by interning at DOP, in Porto, and El Club Allard, in Madrid. Upon returning to Portugal, he took over as head chef at the restaurant Casa Torta, in Guimarães. In 2015, he moved to the restaurant Oficina, in Porto. Four years later, in 2019, he became the executive chef at My Story Hotel Rossio, Lisbon. More recently, he returned to Fafe to head the family restaurant Porinhos.
The jury present at the final was António Bóia (JNcQUOI Avenida), Andreia Moutinho (EHTP), António Loureiro (A Cozinha), Louis Anjos (Al Sud), Luís Gaspar (Sala de Corte), Paulo Pinto (ACPP), and Jeferson Dias (Al Sud). The winning menu included a starter, a vegetarian dish, a meat dish, and finally, a dessert.
The 2nd and 3rd places were awarded to chef João Costa, from Euskalduna Studio, and Jorge Bolito, from The Yeatman, respectively.
