Costa Verde supports the Associação Portuguesa da Classe Vouga, an organisation promoting nautical tourism at Ria de Aveiro, by offering activities related to Vouga class.
This association has extensive experience in organising regattas and other nautical events, which greatly enrich the offer at Ílhavo’s Nautical Station.
Vouga is the only sailing class of Portuguese origin, recognised by the Portuguese Sailing Federation. Created at the end of the 1920s, in Costa Nova, Ílhavo, by master builder António Gordinho, it quickly spread to other regions of the country, such as Lisbon, where it was used by Mocidade Portuguesa for sail training. With a length of between 6 and 6.25 metres and a wing area of 24 square metres, Vouga stands out for its elegance, comfort and speed. Originally built entirely from wood, it is now possible to use a fibreglass hull, as long as essential elements such as the deck, mast, boom and tiller remain in wood.
This collaboration arises in coordination with the various policies and strategies related to sustainability at Costa Verde, where decision-making takes into account the community in which it is located and the environment in which it operates, while taking into account the respect for human rights, environmental protection, compliance with social standards, respect for ethical values and investment in personal development.
